How we’re investing
The 2026–27 Budget includes over $35 million in capital investment across roads, parks, sporting facilities, and community spaces, alongside ongoing funding for our high level waste services, community safety initiatives, and public health programs.
Key initiatives include:
- Progressing the Jubilee Reserve and Bassendean Oval redevelopments
- Advancing implementation of the Ashfield Flats Master Plan
- Design for a new jetty at Point Reserve
- Delivering road safety improvements through Black Spot projects and our Low-Cost Urban Road Safety Program.
- Developer-funded public art celebrating local identity and culture.

How we’re performing
In recent years the Town has strengthened its financial position. The figures below show how careful budgeting, strong financial discipline and long-term planning are helping us deliver for the community now and into the future.
- Over the past five years, the Town has steadily built its reserves, with actual balances increasing from $8.7 million in 2021/22 to $15.8 million in 2025/26 – growth of more than 80%.
- Employee costs have reduced by 3% since 2021, despite salary and wages growth of 18.5% over the same period.
- In the 2026/27 budget, a record 65% of capital projects will be funded through grants, delivering $6.9 million in infrastructure and other works across the Town, with only 18.62% municipally funded.
