If you are having difficulties managing your household waste, you can request additional services or upgrade the capacity of your kerbside bins.

Upgrade your recycling bin
Town of Bassendean property owners can upgrade their regular yellow recycling bin (240L) to a larger yellow recycling bin (360L) for a one-off payment of $161.00 (2026/27 Fees and Charges).

Upgrade your general waste bin
If you're having difficulties managing your general waste, the property owner or managing agent can upgrade your standard red-lid general waste bin (140L) to a larger general waste bin (240L) for an additional cost of $153.00 per year- pro rata (2026/2027 Fees and Charges).
Residents can apply for increased bin capacity on compassionate grounds, such as having a medical condition that increases the quantity of waste you produce, or which makes correct sorting difficult.
You must be receiving a Commonwealth benefit or pension to receive compassionate waste services at no cost (You will need to provide evidence).

Take items to drop off points
Residents can drop off many items (including cardboard and polystyrene) free of charge at Baywaste Transfer Station and Recycling Centre, 271 Collier Rd, Bayswater, which may create space in your kerbside bins.
