Surplus mulch

The Town produces mulch from pruned street and reserve trees and uses it to maintain public spaces such as parks and gardens. When surplus mulch is available it is offered to residents and local community groups.

Using mulch supports sustainability by repurposing tree pruning, reducing waste. Mulch improves gardens by retaining soil moisture, suppressing weed growth, and enriching soil quality.

Please note that the Town of Bassendean is located within the Polyphagous Shot-Hole Borer Quarantine Area, and mulch must not be transported outside the area.

Conditions for collection

To ensure fair access and an efficient collection process, please note the following:

• This service is available exclusively to Town of Bassendean residents and local community groups.
• Each individual or group may collect up to one 6x4 trailer load per visit.
• Mulch is self-service only. Residents must bring their own trailer and tools to load mulch. Delivery is not available.
• Mulch is offered on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
• Residents and community groups are encouraged to call the Town of Bassendean Depot on 9377 9000 before visiting to confirm mulch availability.

Where to collect

Mulch can be collected from the designated ‘Resident Mulch’ area located behind the Town’s Depot at 69 Scaddan Street, Bassendean.

Access is via the corner of Scaddan Street and Troy Street. Follow the signage to the designated collection area.
