Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) Compost

FOGO compost is currently unavailable and is pending test results. Further updates will be provided after testing. 

The Town of Bassendean regularly offers free, loose Soil Improver – All Purpose Dig-It-In Compost to residents.

This high-quality compost is created from food and garden organics collected in the Town of Bassendean’s lime-green-lidded FOGO bins.

This soil improver "dig it in" compost is to be mixed at a ratio of 1 part compost to 8 parts sandy soil (native plants) or 1 part compost to 2 parts sandy soil (ornamentals).  

Conditions for collection

To ensure fair access and an efficient collection process, please note the following:

• This service is available exclusively to Town of Bassendean residents and local community groups.
• Each individual or group may collect up to of one wheelbarrow load per visit.
• Compost is self-service only. Residents must bring their own trailer and tools to load mulch. Delivery is not available.
• Compost is offered on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last
