Abandoned vehicles

Vehicles that have been left in the street, a public place or on Town property for a long period of time are subject to investigation and may be impounded by the Town’s Ranger Services.

Every attempt is made to contact the owner to advise that the vehicle may be impounded.

Report an abandoned vehicle

To report a possible abandoned vehicle, contact the WA Police on 131 444.

This ensures that if the vehicle is stolen it can be returned to its owner as soon as possible.

You can also contact the Town’s Ranger Services on 08 9377 7480.

To make a report, you will need to provide the following details:

  • Vehicle colour, make, and model
  • Vehicle registration number
  • Vehicle location and how long vehicle has been at the location
  • Your contact details

What happens to abandoned vehicles?

Once an abandoned vehicle is reported to the Town, our team will make all attempts to contact the owner.

If the owner cannot contacted after an investigation is completed (around 7 working days) the vehicle may be impounded and stored at the Town’s impound facility.

If the vehicle is not claimed within 60 days of being impounded, it may be auctioned or disposed of by other means.

Vehicles causing an obstruction or left in a manner that is a hazard may be impounded immediately by Rangers if the owner of the vehicle cannot be contacted to remove it.

Parking around schools

Parking safely around schools helps to protect children and reduce congestion during at pick-up and drop-off times.  You can help by:

  • Slow down and stay alert
  • Be mindful of parking signs and road markings to make sure you are parking legally and not causing any obstructions to driveways or creating road safety hazards or congestion.
  • Use the set-down and pick-up areas where possible and do not park vehicles in these locations.
  • Where possible, carpool with other parents to reduce the number of vehicles vying for parking spots.
  • Park further away and walk the short distance to ease congestion right at the school gate.
  • Walk or ride to school when possible — it’s better for your health, the environment and helps reduce the number of cars around the school.
