Planning advice

Our planners can provide general advice on matters including:

  • Zoning enquiries
  • Development application requirements and the assessment process
  • Statutory assessment timeframes
  • Community consultation requirements
  • General advice on the Town's planning framework, including relevant Local Planning Policies.

Book a planning meeting

The best way to seek planning advice is to book a meeting.

Our small team of planners are often attending meetings, undertaking site inspections or assessing applications.

Booking an appointment ensures a planner is available to assist you and helps us to provide a more efficient service.

Book a meeting

If you visit the Town's Library and Customer Service Centre or telephone the Town without a booking, a planner may not be available.

If a planner is unavailable, we will arrange the next available appointment or respond to your enquiry as soon as practicable.

Please note: We will aim to provide you with as much information as possible, however we cannot confirm if a departure from the statutory planning framework and/or a development application would be supported without undertaking a full assessment of a formal development application.

Development and land use proposals on properties are required to be assessed and approved via a Development Application.

All Development Applications are assessed against the Town of Bassendean’s Local Planning Scheme No. 11 and relevant State and Local Planning Policies.
