Reuse, Repair, Gifting and Drop Off Points
Town of Bassendean residents have access to drop off points to recycle and dispose of items that can’t be disposed of in kerbside bins.
Baywaste Transfer Station and Recycling Centre
The EMRC Baywaste Transfer Station and Recycling Centre is located at 271 Collier Road, Bayswater.
Accepted items
Residents can drop off the following items free of charge (please bring Photo ID):
- Aerosol cans (empty only – no spray paint cans) – maximum of 10 items
- Bicycles (Bicycles for Humanity) - maximum of 5
- Cardboard (flattened) – residential quantities only – ute/trailer load
- Polystyrene (expanded solid peices only) - residential quantities only – ute/trailer load
- Vehicle lead acid batteries – maximum of 10 items
- Scrap metal - residential quantities only - (including washing machines/dryers/microwaves/stoves/water heater units) – ute/trailer load
- Waste oil - up to 20L
- E-waste - digital and household appliances - maximum of 10 items

Tyre drop off days
Residents can drop off tyres at Baywaste for disposal during the Free Tyre Drop Off Day events.
This year the event is scheduled for May and October and will be publicised to residents.
Residents can drop off a maximum of 4 tyres (rim on or off) per household.
Car, 4WD and motorcycle tyres accepted only.
Please bring ID and proof of address, wear enclosed shoes and follow directions of staff on site.
Red Hill Waste Management Facility
The EMRC Red Hill Waste Management Facility is located at 1094 Toodyay Road, Red Hill.
Accepted items
Residents can drop off the following items and household hazardous waste free of charge (please bring Photo ID):
- E-waste - digital items (televisions, computers, printers, modems, screens)
- Cardboard
- Scrap metal (including washing machines, dishwashers, dryers and ovens)
- Bicycles

- Paint (up to 100L)
- Batteries - household and lithium ion (excludes embedded batteries which cannot be removed from the device)
- Waste oil (up to 20 litres)
- Waste chemicals (up to 20 litres)
- Aerosol cans (empty only)
- Acids and alkalis
- Engine coolant and glycols
- Fire extinguishers (red only)
- Flammables
- Flares (max 10)
- Fluorescent lamps and tubes
- Gas cylinders (small household)
- Household chemicals and cleaners

- Unknown chemicals (in sealed chemical containers)

Accepted items
You can drop off following items at the Town's Library and Customer Service Centre:
- Mobile phones
- Fluorescent light bulbs and tubes
- Nespresso pods (Library only)
- Writing instruments - not working (no crayons or pencils)
- X-rays - Paper envelope removed
- Printer cartridges
- Household batteries

At Repair Café Bassendean, you’ll find tools and materials to help you make any repairs you need to your much loved items. Repair Café Bassendean is an initiative that aims to minimise waste and strengthen our community. All are welcome.
Post-consumer waste has become a huge problem in modern society, and this partly stems from a culture of discarding broken or unused items, including clothing and electronics. We’re here to help those in our community who want to save their items from landfill and bring back a culture of repairing.

ShareShed Bassendean
Share Shed Bassendean is a great community initiative where volunteers run a ‘library of things’. Share Shed members get free access to a range of extremely useful but infrequently used communal items from lawnmowers to camping gear without the need to purchase them for individual use.

Is your item too good to waste and might be of use to someone else?
Try donating it to Charities and Op Shops who accept quality pre-loved items.
The items you donate must be clean and not broken or stained, because charities can’t fix broken things or wash clothes.
