In a move to continue to ensure Town of Bassendean’s community facilities are accessible and well utilised by a diverse range of community members, Council has adopted the Jubilee Reserve Masterplan which has been in development since July 2020.

The proposal was put forward after an in-depth consultation involving site visits, face to face meetings with clubs and surveys of user groups and the general community.

503 online submissions were received, demonstrating that Jubilee Reserve is highly valued by the community for its large open space, natural environment, and the sense of community it creates as it is used regularly by residents for dog walking, exercise, and organised sport.

It was identified that the current infrastructure on Jubilee Reserve is poor and requires significant upgrades to accommodate a larger section of the community, with most users supporting a collaborative management agreement for the newly proposed facility.

Council committed up to a 25% co-contribution (capped at $2 million) towards the development of the new sporting and community facility, as it relates to the replacement of the existing Stan Moses Pavilion and related amenity improvements, including lighting, with the remaining funds to be sourced from external sources.

Mayor Renee McLennan is excited for the future of the reserve,
“The development of this plan is a great step towards realising our community’s need for upgraded facilities at Jubilee Reserve. Ensuring that our open spaces are enhanced, enjoyed, and utilised by as many people as possible is a focus for the Town. Funding commitment from other tiers of government will be required to allow the Town to deliver this much needed facility that will benefit our community for many years to come.”

Chief Executive Officer, Peta Mabbs, will now be advocating for external funding from the Federal and State Government to enable its successful implementation.
