Traffic volumes along West Road have grown significantly in recent years, especially near Bassendean Primary School and The Last Crumb Cake Co. This increase has led to ongoing parking challenges that impact safety and convenience for residents and road users.
To address these issues, the Town of Bassendean is implementing a Parking Restriction Plan for the area. The goal is to improve safety, reduce congestion, and enhance accessibility for the community.
What’s changing?
The plan includes:
- updates to signage and line marking for better clarity

- removal of outdated restrictions

- installation of new ‘No Stopping’ lines and stencils

- planting trees on selected verges to discourage illegal parking.

Key changes include:
- Removal of redundant signage at Whitfield Street.

- New and replacement signage along West Road and Devon Road.

- Installation of yellow ‘No Stopping’ lines near intersections and school zones.

- Removal of 15-minute parking restrictions opposite The Last Crumb Cake Co. to allow for longer parking.

- Planting two trees on the verge of 47 Harcourt Street.

- Introduction of a new stopping restriction (with yellow ‘No Stopping’ lines) along the northern side of Lovelock Place.

Some minor line marking updates have already been completed, and the remaining works will occur over the coming months. Disruption is expected to be minimal.
Why are we doing this?
These changes aim to:
- improve safety for pedestrians and drivers

- support smoother traffic flow near busy locations

- ensure compliance with current parking regulations.
