Nominations are open for The Town of Bassendean 2026 Community Awards, so now is the time to start thinking about those who go above and beyond in the community.
The Town’s Community Awards recognise and celebrate the individuals, community groups, and businesses who contribute to making Bassendean a vibrant and thriving place to live.
This year, we have taken a new, more flexible approach to the awards, with a longer nomination period to give people more time to put forward their nominations.
Award categories have also been revised with four clear award categories:
- Community Citizen of the Year – recognises an individual who has made a significant contribution, brought about positive change, or enhanced connection and inclusion within the local community.
- Senior Community Citizen of the Year – recognises an individual aged 65 years or over who has made an outstanding contribution to the community.
- Young Community Citizen of the Year – recognises an individual aged 16 – 25 years who has made an outstanding contribution to the community.
- Active Citizenship Award – presented to an individual or group who has made a significant contribution in any of the following sub-categories:
- Environmental or Waterwise initiatives
- Creating Economic Benefit
- Contribution to Arts & Culture
- Access & Inclusion Initiative or Program
- Building an Active & Healthy Community
Nominations can be submitted either online or by hard copy to the Town’s Customer Service Centre.
The nomination period will close on 15 October 2026, so there’s plenty of time to consider who in our community deserves to be celebrated.
The winners will be announced at the 2026 Thank A Volunteer event, scheduled for early December this year.
For more details on the nomination process, visit the Community Awards webpage.
Let’s come together to celebrate of those who make our town a better place!
