On the evening of Tuesday, 23 December 2025, a Town of Bassendean staff member was assaulted by a member of the public and required hospitalisation for injuries sustained during the incident.

Two community members who intervened to assist also suffered injuries.

The alleged offender has been remanded in custody and is expected to face court proceedings later today.

The Town of Bassendean is deeply distressed by this attack and other reported attacks in the Town yesterday afternoon and is working closely and collaboratively with WA Police and the local State Member for Bassendean to actively increase police presence and ensure our community is a safe, inclusive and welcoming place for all.

The Town extends its sincere gratitude to the community members who courageously attempted to assist during the incident.
