February was a milestone month for the Jubilee Reserve Redevelopment Project, with Council endorsing concept plans for the major refurbishment of Stan Moses Pavilion and the Bassendean Caledonian Soccer Club.

Mayor Kathryn Hamilton said: “Endorsing the concept plans brings us closer to completing the final major elements of the Jubilee Reserve Master Plan and delivering long-term benefits for the whole community.”

Impacted sporting clubs have been engaged throughout the project and previewed the concept plans ahead of the February council meeting, with unanimous agreement on the chosen options.

Redevelopment of the pavilions will address the final major project identified in the Jubilee Reserve Master Plan, with additional complementary works to continue through future budget cycles.

The concept plans include:

  • an upgraded Stan Moses Pavilion with all-abilities access, improved storage, and enhanced viewing areas
  • new community meeting and activity spaces
  • modern unisex changerooms to support growing female participation in sport
  • upgraded public toilet facilities
  • refurbishment and extension of the Caledonians Soccer Club clubrooms.

Construction of the new pavilion and clubrooms is anticipated to commence in 2027.

The redevelopment is supported by an election commitment of $2.6 million from the Australian Government being delivered under the Major and Local Community Infrastructure Program, $2.6 million from the WA Government and a contribution in excess of $2 million from the Town of Bassendean.

This project is part of the WA Government’s PlayOn WA, an exciting initiative delivering community infrastructure across WA by 2030.
