The Town of Bassendean is calling for community input to guide the creation of its latest Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
The Town’s next RAP will be aimed at fostering a deeper connection and mutual respect between Council and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
The plan will serve as a strategic framework to guide the Council in building meaningful relationships, promoting respect, and creating opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This project underscores the Council's commitment to reconciliation by embedding cultural awareness, understanding, and inclusivity into every facet of its operations and community interactions.
Community consultation is integral to the project, to ensure the voices and perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are central to the plan.
Town of Bassendean community members are invited to complete a short survey by 5pm, Friday 11 July, or participate in a community workshop at 6pm on Thursday 10 July, during NAIDOC Week. Register for the workshop by emailing [email protected].
Town of Bassendean staff and local stakeholder groups will also be invited to attend targeted workshops.
Once complete, the draft RAP will be made available for public comment prior to going to Council for endorsement.
