From 2 July 2025, Bassendean Memorial Library opening hours will change. The new hours are as follows:
- Monday to Thursday: 9am to 5.30pm
- Friday: 9am to 4pm
- Saturday (opening hours remain unchanged): 9am to 1pm.
This minimal reduction in hours will align the service with other libraries located in similar sized Local Government areas and will allow the Town to redirect funds towards increasing our library stock and carrying out much needed systems upgrades.
This will mean more new titles on the shelves, and an improved look and feel to the library with new furniture and resources.
In the longer term we’ll be upgrading to an improved and user-friendly system, making it easier to request, borrow, and return books and for the community to explore the library online.
Online resources and reservations remain available 24/7, and meeting rooms in the library will continue to operate outside of library opening hours.
Our Local History Library and Justice of the Peace hours of service remain unchanged.
The Library’s free Books on Wheels service continues to operate on a fortnightly or monthly basis for Town of Bassendean residents who are unable to visit the Library due to age, disability or health reasons. If you or someone you know could benefit from this service please contact the Library on 9279 2966.
