What's on at the Library

This year, the Bassendean Memorial Library celebrates 50 years of service to our community- you can read about our history and check out how the library was built here. A lot has changed over 50 years, but the library is still a community space, here to inform, entertain, bring together and inspire. Use your library - it is more than just books.

Books on wheels - our housebound delivery service delivers to patrons who are unable to visit the library; fortnightly or monthly delivery, available to Town’s residents only

October activities

7 October- Talking History @Bassendean Memorial Library: Learn a little about your local schools, when they were established, their mottos and see their annual reports and school history books  - Local Studies 10.30am-11.30am


12 October- Calligraphy workshop, Library meeting room 1, 1pm-2.30pm free- book via TryBooking


31 October- Lego League, Library meeting room 1,  4pm-5pm free 


Craft group- every Friday 9am-12noon, Library meeting room 1; just drop in, everyone is welcomed


Mahjong- every Tuesday12.30-2.30; 6pm-7.30pm new players welcome for evening classes


ESL (English as Second Language)- every Monday Beginners 5pm; Intermediate 5.30pm. Call to register your interest 9279 2966 or email [email protected]


Rhymetime- every Wednesday 11am


Storytime- every Thursday 10.30am


Justice of the Peace- available on the first 3 Wednesdays of the month 10am-11.30am and on the first and third Saturday of the month 9.15am-12noon
