Town of Bassendean social media page guidelines
The Town of Bassendean’s Facebook page is a place for residents, community groups, businesses and visitors to stay informed about Town news, services, projects, events, engagement opportunities and local stories from Ashfield, Bassendean and Eden Hill.
We welcome comments, questions and respectful discussion. To keep this page a safe, useful and welcoming space for everyone, we ask that all users follow these community guidelines.
Community guidelines
Please:
- Be respectful, courteous and constructive when engaging with other community members, Councillors and Town staff.
- Stay on topic and keep comments relevant to the post or discussion.
- Respect the privacy of others and avoid sharing personal information, including addresses, phone numbers, email addresses or identifying details.
- Follow Facebook’s Community Standards and any relevant laws, regulations or platform terms of use.
The Town reserves the right to hide, remove or report comments, posts, direct messages or other content that:
- Is abusive, threatening, harassing, defamatory, discriminatory, hateful, obscene, offensive, vulgar or violent.
- Targets, insults or repeatedly attacks individuals, including community members, Councillors, Town employees, contractors or volunteers.
- Contains racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia or other discriminatory language or content.
- Is false, misleading, deceptive, fraudulent or could reasonably cause public confusion or harm.
- Promotes, encourages or depicts illegal activity, unsafe behaviour or violence.
- Contains sexually explicit, pornographic, graphic or distressing material.
- Includes spam, repetitive comments, copied and pasted comments, trolling, baiting, excessive tagging or unrelated links.
- Promotes commercial products, services, petitions, political campaigns or unrelated causes without prior approval.
- Infringes copyright, intellectual property rights or the privacy rights of another person.
- Is otherwise considered inappropriate by the Town, acting reasonably and in accordance with these guidelines.
Removal of comments and posts
Comments or content that breach these guidelines may be hidden, deleted or reported without notice. Where appropriate, moderators may contact the user to explain why content has been removed and remind them of these guidelines.
User bans
Users who repeatedly breach these guidelines, or who post serious or harmful content, may be blocked or banned from the Town of Bassendean’s Facebook page. The Town may review bans on a case-by-case basis if a user contacts us and demonstrates a willingness to follow these guidelines.
Moderation and response times
The Town’s social media channels are generally monitored during business hours, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. We will aim to respond to enquiries as soon as possible, but the page is not monitored continuously and should not be used for urgent requests.
For urgent matters, please phone the Town on (08) 9377 8000. After-hours calls will be assessed and urgent matters may be escalated to an on-call staff member.

Privacy protection
Please do not post personal, confidential or sensitive information about yourself or others. If you need to provide personal details to the Town, please contact us through our official customer service channels.
