Plastic Free July in the Town of Bassendean

Get started on your journey towards plastic free by participating in Plastic Free July and go into the draw to win a hamper full of goodies that will help you to transition to a low waste lifestyle. All you have to do is shop at one of the participating businesses listed below, bringing your own cup/containers/grocery bags, take a photo of yourself with the signage provided and send the photo to us at with the name of the business you visited.

Conditions of entry:

  1. The competition is being held and promoted by the Town of Bassendean PO BOX 87 Bassendean WA 6934, ABN: 20 347 405 108.
  2. Entry into the competition will be deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions.
  3. Instructions on how to enter and prizes form part of these conditions.
  4. Entry is open to all residents of the Town of Bassendean. Elected Members, Employees of the Town and their immediate families are ineligible to enter.
  5. This Promotion commences 6am (WST) on 1 July and closes 5pm (WST) on 9 August 2021.  No further entries to the competition will be accepted after this date and time.
  6. The total prize pool consists of 4 x hampers containing low waste living items at an approximate value of no more than $120 per hamper.
  7. Winners must make necessary arrangements to collect prize from the Town of Bassendean Customer Service Centre during business hours.
  8. To enter, entrants must email a photograph of themselves in one of the participating Businesses listed, showing them using a re-usable cup/mug/container/grocery bag and holding supplied sign saying ‘I Choose To Refuse’. Photograph must be emailed to
  9. Prize winners will be drawn at random at 9.00 am on 10 August 2021 from a database of all entrants.
  10. The winners will be notified by email and the winners have 7 days from the date of the email to contact the Town to accept their prize.
  11. The decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  12. Prize winners must present a current form of photo identification to receive their prize and show proof of Bassendean residence.
  13. If selected winners cannot be contacted or do not claim the prize within 14 days of notification, the Town reserves the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and a new winner will be selected.
  14. The Promoter shall not be held liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) for personal injury suffered or sustained, as a result of accepting a prize, except liability which cannot be excluded by law.
  15. All entrants agree to the use of her/his name and image in any publicity material without remuneration by the Promoter for the purpose of distributing the prizes or to promote their winning entries via the website, Facebook and any other promotional publication or online media of the Promoter.
  16. This prize is not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be redeemed for cash. Any ancillary costs associated with redeeming the prizes shall be the sole responsibility of the corresponding prize winners.
  17. No responsibility will be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.
  18. If, in the Promoter’s opinion, there is any suspected or actual evidence of electronic or non-electronic tampering with any portion of the competition, or if technical difficulties compromise the integrity of the competition, the Promoter reserves the right to terminate the competition and conduct a random drawing to award prizes using all entries received as of the date of termination, subject to state legislation.
  19. The promoter collects personal information in order to conduct the competition.  Personal information will be collected and used for the purpose of the competition only and will not be disclosed to any third party other than in accordance with these terms and conditions.
