Hey, it’s Elliott here.
I’d been working in accounting firms for 11 years but never really found my place in the profession. What I really loved to do was help people.
I’d become known as the one who would go to great lengths to help a client. I spent a year working fulltime with a client who was in a terrible financial position, and managed to extract the viable businesses, shutdown or sell-off the ones the ones that weren’t, and most importantly, save most of the employees’ jobs.
And so that’s why I started Tempo Tax and Accounting in 2016.
It’s given me the chance use my skills to help people I want to help, good, honest, down-to-earth people, just like you. I’m not in it to make millions, but if you want to, I’m happy to help.
I started Tempo Tax and Accounting in a co-working space in West Perth, but found office space in Bassendean and moved here after six months. It’s four minutes from home, our youngest son is in day-care one street from here, and our eldest child’s school is in the street after that – guess who does the drop-offs each morning.
I feel part of the community here. I’ve also become involved in starting a local Bassendean Business Association, bringing together locals at all stages in business to help each other with their problems and challenges, to share the victories and sometimes just to chat.
I am working to grow the economic and employment base in the local area. I am doing some consulting work for a local financial counselling and community welfare group in nearby Lockridge.
I’ve helped two local workmates start a business that will help them move out of the FIFO life, and be around more as their kids grow up.
I’ve helped a young woman who had been through a hellish five years get the Tax Office off her back by lodging overdue tax returns (and get a life-changing $20,000 in refunds).
And I helped an ambitious young entrepreneur finally turn a profit, get the reward for all of the effort he’s put into his business over the past three years, and set him up for an even bigger and better next three years.
