The Town of Bassendean Community Awards is an exciting opportunity for the Town to recognise and acknowledge individuals, community groups and business for their excellence in the community.

 Nominations will open from 1 February 2021 and can be lodged either on line or by hard copy.

The Town’s Community Awards presented as part of the Citizenship Ceremony date to be confirmed to coincide with National Volunteer Week 2021, (Monday 17 May – Sunday 23 May)

 

Nomination Categories

Mayor’s Community Champion Award

This award will be presented to a volunteer who has made a significant contribution to the local community. They will have demonstrated leadership on a community issue resulting in the enhancement of community life, been involved in a significant initiative which has brought about positive change and added value to community life and/or demonstrated inspiring qualities as a role model for the community.

Volunteer Organisation of the Year

This award will be presented to a local community group that services the Town of Bassendean and significantly contributes to achieve partnerships within the community that build capacity, connection and sense of belonging, contributing to an empowered community.

Lifetime Contribution to Volunteering

This award will be presented in honour of a senior individual (65+ years) who has made an exemplary life-long contribution to volunteering and who through their volunteering has contributed to the betterment of the Town of Bassendean community.

Youth Achievement Award

Presented in celebration of an individual aged 12 – 25 years who has made an outstanding voluntary commitment, has been an exceptional role model or has made significant achievements in the arts, sporting or academic fields.

Sustainable Street Award

Awarded to the street in the Town of Bassendean with the most houses (by percentage) that have adopted significant environmentally sustainable practices including, but not limited to, removing single-use plastics, composting, solar power, water tanks and water-wise gardens.

Best Verge Award

Presented in recognition of an outstanding verge garden in the Town of Bassendean, taking into account edible or native plants, water-wise design and safe access.

Business Development Award  

Presented to an exciting new business, established in the last three years in the Town of Bassendean, which has made a positive community impact, shown significant business agility or provided outstanding customer service.

Sustainable Business Award

Presented to a business in the Town of Bassendean which has made significant changes and pro-actively contributed to environmental sustainability in their business practices and/or in the community
