Literary Salons in the Library: with Lynsey McDonnell and Emily Paull
Wednesday 2nd September 2026
Join author Lynsey McDonnell as she discusses Bailey Street, a sweeping novel of contemporary and historical romance inspired by Western Australia's rich past. Spanning from Ireland and Liverpool to Fremantle and Bunbury, the story intertwines a modern-day journey of family discovery with the remarkable true history of convict poet John Boyle O'Reilly, forbidden love, and a century-old cottage that has quietly witnessed generations of secrets.
Lynsey will be in conversation with fellow Western Australian author Emily Paull, whose acclaimed WWII love story The Distance Between Dreams has captivated readers with its unforgettable characters and richly woven historical setting. Together, they'll explore the inspiration, research and craft behind writing historical fiction and stories of love that transcend time.
The talk will run for approximately 45-50 minutes, followed by an audience Q&A and the opportunity to chat with the author.
Books will be available for purchase on the night ($34.99 RRP), with signing to follow.
Enjoy refreshments, good company, and thoughtful conversation at this special literary salon.
