Local Government Election 2025

Local government ordinary elections are held every two years, on the third Saturday in October. The next Town of Bassendean election is scheduled for Saturday 18 October 2025.

The Town's elections are conducted as postal elections by the Western Australian Electoral Commission. The Commission appoints a Returning Officer who oversees the elections which includes taking candidate nominations and supervising the count on election night.

Councillors are elected for four-year terms, with part of the Councillor's terms concluding at each ordinary election. This election, there will be four vacancies (all four-year terms). 

The Town of Bassendean has seven Councillors.


Voter information

If you are on the electoral roll for the Town of Bassendean you can vote in the local government election on 18 October 2025.

The Western Australian Electoral Commission will mail you a voting pack in mid-September for you to complete and return by free post. The package will include a list of candidates, ballot papers, instructions on how to vote and a declaration.

If you do not think your voting package can be returned by post in time, you can deliver it by hand to a polling official prior to election day, at the Town's Customer Service Centre at 35 Old Perth Road. You can also deliver your voting package by hand to a polling official on election day at the Town's Customer Service Centre at 35 Old Perth Road.

The count will occur at the Volunteer Centre, 50 Old Perth Road, Bassendean from 6.00pm on election day, Saturday 18 October 2025.
