Proposed Childcare Premises - No. 72 Walter Road East, Eden Hill (DA-2026-068)


The Town of Bassendean has received an application to develop a Childcare Premises at No. 72 Walter Road East, Eden Hill (corner of Marion Street). The application will be determined by the Metro Inner Development Assessment Panel (DAP).

The proposal involves:

  • A two-storey, purpose-built Childcare Premises with capacity for 55 children and 10 staff;
  • Childcare services to be provided Monday to Friday between 7:00am and 6:00pm;
  • 8 onsite car parking bays, accessed via Marion Street.

The site is zoned ‘Local Centre’ under the Town’s Local Planning Scheme No.11. A ‘Childcare Premises’ is a ‘D’ use within the Local Centre zone. This means that the use is not permitted unless the DAP exercises its discretion by granting development approval. The Town has elected to publicly advertise the application for comment . Following advertising, the Town will provide the DAP its recommendation on the proposal, together with a summary of comments received.
