Town of Bassendean welcomes a Federal Opposition commitment to invest in the future vision for the Bassendean town centre, committing $200,000 for revamped lighting at Bassendean Oval as part of the Light Up Perth program and a further $200,000 for the construction of a playground at BIC Reserve.

The funding announcement from Patrick Gorman MP is in direct support of the implementation of the Town Centre Masterplan, adopted by Council in late 2021.

Lighting upgrades, from the Light up Perth program, will form part of the historic Bassendean Oval, not only benefitting Swan Districts Football Club but also residents who will have more regular use of the grounds at night.

A new playground at BIC Reserve was a key takeout from the “BassenDream Our Future” community engagement process and will meet local demand for a central recreation spot for families within the Town.

Mayor Kath Hamilton welcomes a commitment to invest in this community,

“This is a great opportunity for our community as we work towards a new future for our town centre. We are open for business and it’s great to see this election commitment supporting local projects. It’s a step in the right direction to enhancing and developing facilities that welcome people into our charming Town Centre as we strive to increase vibrancy and livability."
