In 2012, the Joint Development Assessment Panel approved the redevelopment of the Bassendean Shopping Centre, which included a portion of car parking bays being located within the road reserve. To ensure the car parking bays are managed and maintained by the Shopping Centre owners, it is necessary for the road reserve to be modified to enable the owners to purchase this land from the State Government. A formal road closure is required, with the subject land then able to be amalgamated into the Shopping Centre site and purchased from the Crown.
