The Town of Bassendean proposes to change the way it applies rates to vacant land by levying a higher rate in the dollar on vacant land than for improved land, known as differential rating.

The purpose of differential rating is to encourage development of vacant land within the Town, which in turn stimulates growth and development and improves the vibrancy of the Town.
