Success Hill Drainage Diversion Project update

The Success Hill Drainage Diversion Project is progressing well and is expected to be completed within the next two to three weeks.

Installation of the HDPE pipe along Eighth Avenue was completed prior to the Christmas break. Work has now commenced on the installation of the concrete pipe along Anzac Terrace, which is expected to be completed within the next two weeks.

Once pipe installation is complete, tidy‑up and reinstatement works will begin at Kelly Park and Success Hill Reserve. Verge reinstatements along Seventh Avenue and Eighth Avenue will be completed at the end of the project and returned as closely as possible to their pre‑construction condition.

The Town thanks residents and park users for their patience while these essential works are carried out.

What is the reason for the project?

For more than eight years, the Town has sought a permanent solution to manage surface water runoff from the upstream residential catchment.

When complete, this project will replace the temporary drainage pipe at the Success Hill Reserve foreshore with a long-term system that safeguards this registered Aboriginal Heritage Site and supports future foreshore stabilisation.

To minimise disruption, the project is using trenchless technology rather than large-scale excavation. A horizontal drill from Kelly Park has been used to install a new drainage pipe beneath Eighth Avenue, reducing surface disturbance and preserving existing trees and vegetation.

Traffic management measures are in place on Eighth Avenue and Anzac Terrace, and Kelly Park is being used as a laydown area with Tree Protection Areas clearly identified.
