Postal Delivery Van Art Project
Saturday 6th June 2026
Join local artist Nami Osaki at Bassendean Memorial Library, as she transforms ordinary cardboard boxes into a postal van big enough for children to climb around inside! Families are invited to drop in, watch this unique artwork come to life, and learn from our librarians about the history of the famous Bassendean Post Box as we celebrate its 150th birthday this year.
Event update
Due to the enthusiastic response to this event, we’re excited to include an additional activity on the day!
From 10:00am – 11:30am, Nami Osaki from Nami’s Art Room will be decorating the outside of the postal van.
From 11:30am – 1:00pm, Nami will be guiding participants in a relaxed, drop-in workshop where they can design their own postage stamp (materials provided). These stamps can be used to decorate the inside of the van, or be taken home. All ages are welcome to join in the fun!
We’ll also be running a competition on the day to name the library postal van, with a special prize for the winner. This will be announced on our socials in the following weeks.
From the following Monday, the postal van will be displayed in the children’s section for everyone to explore and enjoy.
