Motorcycle parking

In public parking areas, motorcycles must be parked in a marked motorcycle bay. You may be fined if you park a motorcycle in a regular parking bay.

If there are no motorcycle-marked bays available, you can park in unmarked bays on side streets.

Parking a motorcycle on a footpath is prohibited.

Large vehicle and boat parking

Parking restrictions apply to the following vehicles:

  • Caravans and motorhomes
  • Trailers
  • Boats
  • Buses
  • Heavy vehicles, including trailers, that weigh more than 4.5 tonnes and are longer than 7.5 metres.

Parking these vehicles on or crossing the verge is not permitted, unless you’re actively loading or unloading goods.

These vehicles cannot be left unattached, partly on the verge, at any time, even while unloading goods.

Heavy or long vehicles unloading or picking up goods can only park on the road for up to one hour.

These parking restrictions help to improve traffic flow and help to maintain accessible streets and footpaths for everyone.

ACROD parking

The Town provides several accessible parking bays, commonly known as ACROD bays.

These locations are clearly signposted with the blue and white International Symbol of Access (ISA) symbol.

Only vehicles displaying a current registered ACROD permit are entitled to park and stop in these bays.

Penalties apply if vehicles are not displaying a current ACROD permit.

How do I get an ACROD permit?

To obtain or find out more about an ACROD permit, visit the National Disability Services ACROD parking program website.

Parking on footpaths

Parking any vehicle on or over any portion of a footpath is prohibited and is subject to an infringement.
