Draft Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)

The Town of Bassendean has prepared a draft Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and is inviting community feedback before the document is finalised.

The draft RAP renews the Town’s commitment to reconciliation and sets out practical, achievable actions to strengthen relationships, promote respect and create opportunities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The draft was shaped by consultation conducted in 2025 with community members, staff, local stakeholders, and First Nations representatives, including an online survey and a series of workshops.

Feedback highlighted the importance of cultural awareness, authentic engagement, community events and celebrations, and greater visibility of First Nations culture through art, language and signage.

The draft RAP outlines four key outcome areas:

  • Outcome 1: Authentic Engagement and Relationship Building
  • Outcome 2: Increasing staff and community understanding of Noongar history and culture
  • Outcome 3: Enhancing cultural visibility in public spaces and programs
  • Outcome 4: Commitment to continuous improvement

Community feedback will help strengthen the final document and ensure it reflects local priorities. We encourage you to review the draft RAP and complete the survey below by 8 July 2026 to share your views.
