What is the Town of Bassendean doing in response to COVID-19?

The Town is following the direction from local and State health agencies to provide an environment that is safe and healthy, and will continue to provide essential community services.  The health and wellbeing of our residents, visitors, staff and broader community is paramount.

To reduce the risk of spread, the Town has implemented the following measures:

  • Closed the Library and Customer Service Centre.
  • Closed Playgrounds and turned off water fountains. 
  • Cancelled the Old Perth Road Markets, ANZAC Day ceremony, citizenship ceremonies, NAIDOC Week and Telethon Community Cinemas.
  • Promoted online activities such as StoryTime.
  • Encourage customers and ratepayers to use the Town's online services

How is the Town Accepting Payments?

As the customer service office is currently close we can no longer accept cash payments.

Available forms of payments include

  • Credit cards over the phone
  • Check/money orders can be posted to PO Box 87, Bassendean WA 6934 
  • For Rates Only: Bpoint is available

What about Council Meetings? 

Council Briefing Sessions and Council Meetings will be live-streamed from the Council Chambers. Please send in your questions about any matters on the agenda to yoursay@bassendean.wa.gov.au by midday on the meeting date and watch from the comfort of your home.

Can I book a Town venue?

With Coronavirus in mind and health & wellbeing our priority, the Town of Bassendean has made the following changes to its hire of council venues to take effect immediately until further notice and at the least until Sunday, 31 May 2020.

The closure of the following Town of Bassendean community facilities and ovals & reserves for organised sporting club and personal trainer usage (general public/passive usage and school usage during school hours is excluded from this closure).

  • Bassendean Community Hall (including main hall and lesser hall);
  • Bassendean Seniors and Community Centre, including the Hall, Dining Room and Commercial Kitchen;
  • Alf Faulkner Hall;
  • Library Meeting Rooms 1 and 2;
  • Bassendean Tennis Club demountable;
  • 1 Surrey Street and Bassendean Pensioner Guard Cottage; 
  • Stan Moses Pavilion (including changerooms and canteens). 
  • Steel Blue Oval;
  • Ashfield Reserve;
  • Jubilee Reserve and;
  • BIC Reserve.

No new bookings will be accepted or approved until further notice.

Is the Library open?

No. Please use our online library services  here.

Has the RElax program been cancelled?

Yes, Term 1 and Term 2 Relax program has been postponed until further notice. No financial penalties will apply. We are planning online services in the future.

What's  happening at Seniors Ashfield?

In-Home Care Services continue to be provided to Seniors and Disability Services clients.

What about Youth Services?

The drop-in centre and RYDE driver education program run through Bassendean Youth Services are closed, effective immediately, however education programs with a defined attendance continue to operate.

Will this Impact NDIS Support?

During this period associated with the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we are aware that participants have questions about their NDIS plans or services they may need during this time. Mission Australia is still available to answer questions relating to plans or the implementation of plans.

The Mission Australia Community Engagement Team are available to provide information and to help link you to mainstream and community supports. There are also some groups being set up for people to call in and connect with other people in the community. The Community Engagement Team are also able to link people to Local Area Coordinators (LACs) for further assistance.
