Town dealing with complexity of Coronavirus

The complexity of dealing with the Coronavirus pandemic was outlined last night, with the Town of Bassendean trying to maximise assistance to the community while minimising the impact on people's health.

At a Special Council Meeting, Council decided to:

  1. Plan for a 2020-21 budget based on no rate increases and delaying any financial impact of the proposed underground power in parts of Eden Hill and Bassendean until 2020-21.
  2. Re-purpose funds from cancelled events to a new community outreach service, Neighbour Assist, to help residents over the next three months
  3. Allow 20 days paid leave for employees who contract COVID-19, need to care for another person who has the virus or is required to self-isolate, cannot access school or other care arrangements or are otherwise prevented from working because of COVID-19
