ANZAC Day 2023

Past Event

ANZAC Day is one of Australia’s most important national occasions.

It marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War.

Although the Gallipoli campaign failed in its military objectives, the actions of Australian and New Zealand forces during the campaign left a powerful legacy.

What became known as the “Anzac legend” became an important part of the identity of both nations, shaping the ways in which they viewed both their past and their future.

The ANZAC Day March and Service has been organised by Bassendean RSL Eastern Regional.

  • 10.15am - Presentation at RSL of Somalia Meritorious Unit Citation by MLA Dave Kelly
  • 10.30am - Parade participants assemble on Parker Street, next to the Bassendean hotel
  • 10.45am - March commences to BIC Reserve
  • 11am - Service to commemorate ANZAC Day at the Bassendean War Memorial, BIC Reserve

After the service, all are welcome to join the RSL at 10 Kenny Street for food, drinks and a live band (cash only venue).

Groups will be contacted to lay a wreath if already registered, please email to [email protected] to register.
