From 1 July 2025, the Town of Bassendean will enter a new phase of collaboration with the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council (EMRC) and the City of Bayswater as the other remaining member council.
The Town of Bassendean, in late 2024, passed a resolution at its Ordinary Meeting of Council to continue its membership of the EMRC.
The Town embraces the opportunities of continued participation in the EMRC and will work with the EMRC management team to deliver operating models for highly efficient and cost-effective waste solutions to residents and customers. This will ensure continued progress towards meeting the State Government’s waste targets by a progressive and innovative EMRC.
Town of Bassendean Mayor Kathryn Hamilton said the Town was delighted to continue its membership of the award-winning organisation.
"The EMRC operates to an incredibly high standard that benefits the communities and customers they serve across the metropolitan region and beyond,” said Mayor Hamilton.
“The EMRC staff are to be commended for their exemplary service, in-depth industry knowledge and ongoing commitment to the organisation.”
“It is through their hard work and dedication that this award-winning organisation is held in such high regard by industry leaders.”
As a Member Council, the Town of Bassendean remains committed to supporting the ongoing delivery of industry-leading waste management services by the EMRC, focusing on the requirements of existing and future customers.
Additional information will be made available in coming months as transition milestones are met and delivered with what is envisioned to be negligible impacts on service delivery.
