In March 2021, the McGowan Government committed $3 million in funding over four years (2021-22 to 2024-25) to the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions’ (DBCA) Swan Canning Riverpark Urban Forest program. The program is an initiative that allows DBCA to deliver priority projects which improve ecosystem health, amenity value and use of the Riverpark and connected landscape. The program supports local and State government agencies to deliver urban forest restoration projects within the Riverpark and surrounds (including tributaries and drainage lines in the Swan Canning Catchment).

In 2023, the Town received funding for two projects under the program, with the goals of improving the habitat value for native fauna, and improving the condition, structure, and function of urban forest ecosystems.

Project works at Success Hill Reserve include the removal of woody weeds and highly invasive weeds in the sloped area between the bushland and the river's edge, and replacement of these species with locally endemic tubestock.

Project works at Bindaring and Pickering Park will include extension of the Bindaring Park living stream project (started in 2021) and planting along the river foreshore in Pickering Park. The Town has partnered with La Salle College students to deliver revegetation works in Bindaring and Pickering Parks in 2023.
