This week the Town of Bassendean’s Chief Executive Officer, Peta Mabbs, tendered her resignation, providing a 3 month notice period.

Ms Mabbs thanked Council for the opportunity to serve as CEO for almost 4 years, stating she is very proud of the many accomplishments achieved.

“I would particularly like to recognise the staff of the Town of Bassendean who have worked so diligently over this period and supported me and new ways of working. I feel the timing is now right to pursue new opportunities. There has been much work to establish the organisation as a more progressive, contemporary local government and I feel it is in a much stronger position than when I arrived.

The opportunity to work for the community that my family has been part of since the 1940s has been an honour.

I wish Council, staff and the community the very best for the future.”

Mayor, Cr Kathryn Hamilton, on behalf of the Council,

"We extend our deep appreciation to Ms Mabbs for her demonstrated leadership and incredible dedication to the Town of Bassendean throughout the course of her tenure. Of particular note was the skillful and compassionate manner in which the CEO guided this organisation through challenging periods such as Covid. It has been a privilege to work and collaborate with Ms Mabbs, and on behalf of Council I wish her all the best for the future".
