About the team The Town’s Sustainability and Environment unit develops, manages and implements plans to reduce and effectively manage waste, improve the natural environment and provide leadership in sustainable practices and climate action. We achieve this through active consultation, innovative approaches and evidence-based methods.
About the role As an Urban Forest Team Member you play a vital role in performing general hand duties with tree management and maintenance, as well as carrying out tree planting, watering, aftercare, maintenance and pruning in accordance with industry best practices. You will be responsible for monitoring and undertaking reporting on tree health and tree maintenance activities and assist with horticultural and arboriculture maintenance of the Town’s parks, gardens, reserves, streetscapes and natural areas as needed.
About you The successful candidate will have:

Under guidance, carry out tree planting, watering, aftercare, maintenance, and pruning in accordance with industry best practices.

Monitor and undertake basic reporting on tree health and tree maintenance activities

Assist with the horticultural and arboricultural maintenance of the Town’s parks, gardens, reserves, streetscapes, and natural areas as needed

Collect rubbish and debris from roads, reserves and other Council owned facilities.

A relevant Trade Certificate or appropriate equivalent experience in Horticulture or Arboriculture. (Essential)

Certification in, or ability to obtain certification in Chainsaw and Chipper safe operation and maintenance (Essential)

Basic Worksite Traffic Management Certificate (Essential)

A Current ‘MR’ Class Drivers Licence (Essential)

National Construction Induction Certificate (White Card) (Essential)

Salary and Benefits This full-time, two-year contract attracts an annual salary range $72,731.74 to $74,959.83 per annum, plus superannuation.
The Town also offers up to 4% additional superannuation (conditions apply), 17.5% leave loading, free parking, ongoing training and professional development, and up to two additional leave days per calendar year.
Working Hours The position is full-time, 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Flexibility options such as condensed hours (9-day fortnight or 19-day month).
