About the team
The Town’s Corporate Services directorate covers a broad portfolio including finance and rating and customer services, information management and technology, procurement and children’s services (long day care centres). We actively collaborate with stakeholders to deliver exceptional services, sound financial management and good governance.
About the role
The key objectives for the role are to provide an effective and efficient finance and accounting service, ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements as well as support the Manager Financial Services in the operational management and delivery of the Town’s finance functions and processes.
About you
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing statutory accounting functions, ensuring all statutory reporting is compliant with relevant Local Government Legislation and Australian Accounting Standards Board pronouncements.
- Preparing the monthly and annual financial statements, including managing end-of-month processes.
- Administering and accurately recording all Council revenue and expenditure accounts in accordance with the Local Government (Financial Management) Regulations and relevant Australian Accounting Standards.
- Ensuring monthly Balance Sheet and Trust Account reconciliations are up to date.
- Managing the Town’s Financial Information Management System ensuring that Business Unit requirements are met.
The successful candidate will have:
- Possession of Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or a Business related discipline together with significant Industry experience in a relevant or similar discipline. (essential)
- Qualified CA/CPA, however candidates who have progressed significantly towards a professional accounting qualification will also be considered. (essential)
- A minimum of 5 Years’ experience, preferably in Local Government. (essential)
- A high level of accuracy and strong attention to detail. (essential)
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to ask the ‘right questions’ to provide the requisite advice. (essential)
- Ability to work autonomously with limited supervision with good time management and planning skills. (essential)

Salary and Benefits
This fixed term full time contract attracts a salary up to $118,000 per annum plus superannuation.
The Town also offers up to 4% additional superannuation (conditions apply), free parking, ongoing training and professional development, and up to two additional leave days per calendar year.
Working Hours
The position is a full-time, 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Flexibility options such as condensed hours (19-day month), hybrid work and variable start/finish times are options and may be negotiated for this role.
