Nuisance cats and cat trapping

Stray or roaming cats can kill wildlife, wander on roads, mark their territory by ‘spraying’ on people’s homes and belongings and fight with other cats.

This behaviour creates a nuisance for your neighbours and the community.

The best way to stop your cat becoming a nuisance is to keep it indoors or confine it to your property.

If a cat is causing a nuisance in your neighbourhood, contact the owner and discuss how they can resolve the problem.

Cats found wandering will be impounded and held for a minimum of 72 hours at the City of South Perth Animal Care Facility.

Cat trapping

If the cat continues to make a nuisance or is a stray, contact the Town’s Rangers to hire a safe and humane cat trap.

Trapped cats will be impounded at the City of South Perth Animal Care Facility.

Hiring a trap

The fee for hiring a cat trap is $40.

You can hire the trap for 7 days. After 7 days, the trap will be collected and cleaned and made available to the next person on the waitlist.

To hire a cat trap, contact the Town’s Ranger Services 9377 7480 or email [email protected]
