Seeking Expressions of Interest - 1 Surrey Street, Bassendean

The Town of Bassendean is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the acquisition of 1 Surrey Street, Bassendean.  The site which is nestled between the Bassendean town centre and the Swan River, comprises two historic buildings, namely:  

  • the Pensioner Guard Cottage, being the oldest building still standing in Bassendean built by convicts (circa 1856); and 
  • a Residence later built in 1893.

The Expression of Interest will be open from 6 March 2021 to 8 April 2021. A mandatory site briefing is to be held on 18 March 2021. Further details on the EOI can be found on Tenderlink.

The Offer

Council’s intent is to ensure heritage locations and buildings of historical value within the Town are recognised ​and cared for. 

Interested parties will be required to demonstrate a genuine community benefit, which must include one or more of the following elements:

  • heritage restoration;
  • community access; and/or
  • financial benefit for the Town.

Potential interested parties may include private individuals or organisations.  Considerations for use of the site may extend from being a private home through to a community facility or consulting rooms (subject to Council approval).
