The Town of Bassendean invites the community to join the celebration at Music on the Green: Celebrating Birak, a vibrant and free event that seamlessly blends music, community, and culture. Set against the backdrop of Birak, one of the six Noongar seasons, this live music sundowner will be held on Thursday 25 January 2024.

The event will commence with a Citizenship Ceremony, symbolising new beginnings and unity. As the sun sets, the stage will come alive with a diverse lineup catering to all musical tastes. First Nations artists Gina Williams & Guy Ghouse, Boox Kid, and Natasha Eldridge Duo will grace the audience with their culturally enriching and captivating performances.

Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse, six-time winners of Indigenous Act of the Year at the West Australian Music Industry Awards, will enchant the crowd with a unique fusion of ancient Noongar language, contemporary music, and soul-stirring vocals. Their performances are not only a celebration of culture but also a powerful statement for a brighter future. Gina, a proud resident of Bassendean for 25 years, adds a personal touch to the event.

Boox Kid, led by Jarred Wall, representing the Noongar heritage from the Wardandi Bibbulmun tribe, will deliver visionary tunes infused with unique melodies and harmonies. Natasha Eldridge, hailing from Whadjuk and Ballardon Country, will captivate the audience with her soulful R&B-infused tunes and velvety acoustic folk melodies, creating a truly magical atmosphere.

Attendees can beat the heat with free slushies from the Natural Slushie Company and tantalise their taste buds with delicious meals served by food trucks on-site.

Music on the Green: Celebrating Birak is the perfect way to kick off the long weekend, offering a harmonious blend of music, culture, and community. Admission is free, and all are welcome.
