Last week we were notified that our community lost a valued member, with the passing of, John Klein, the husband of former Councillor and Mayor, Tina Klein, on Thursday, 7 April 2022.

John had a very active role in the community over the years; he was instrumental in the forming of the Bassendean Lions Club, volunteered for our Community Transport services, delivered books for the housebound and volunteered in the library, all of which he was honoured for by the Town of Bassendean in 2012 as part of National Volunteer Week.

He was also the recipient of the Premier's Australia Day Active Citizenship Award for a person aged over 25 years in 2010 and the Melville Jones Award for humanitarian services at the Australia Day Awards that same year.

Johns’ contributions will be remembered by many, and Councillors, Town and staff send their condolences to the Klein family.
