General Meeting of Electors

The General Meeting of Electors provides an opportunity for electors to discuss the contents of the Town of Bassendean Annual Report 2022/23 including the Audited Annual Financial Statements for the year ending 30 June 2023, and to address any other general business.

When and where is the meeting?

The next General Meeting of Electors is being held on the Tuesday 13 February 2024, starting at 6pm. It will be held in the Council Chamber at 48 Old Perth Road, Bassendean.

The purpose of the meeting is to: 

  • consider and receive the Town’s Annual Report
  • consider any other general business.

Can I take part in the meeting?

The public are invited to attend this meeting. However, only Town of Bassendean electors can take part by asking questions and voting on motions at the meeting.

Proposed motions

Electors wanting Council to consider a matter can propose a motion to be presented at the General Meeting of Electors. At the General Meeting of Electors, electors may raise any motion related to the responsibilities and functions of the local government. If the motion is endorsed by the electors present, it will be considered at an Ordinary Meeting of Council. 

All Town of Bassendean electors are eligible to submit motions for consideration. The Presiding Member will read the motion aloud to ensure that everyone is clear about what they are voting on and seek a seconder prior to putting the motion to a vote.

Proposed motions should be provided in writing to the Town either by hand delivering them to the Customer Service Centre at 35 Old Perth Road, Bassendean, or via email to [email protected] no later than 12pm (noon), Monday 12 February 2024. Please include the following information:

  • First name and last name
  • Email address
  • Phone number (not mandatory)
  • Street address
  • Details of your proposed motion.

Public questions

You may address the meeting and ask a question. Questions are to be directed to the Mayor, who chairs the meeting. The Mayor will respond to your question or may call upon a member of the Town’s Administration to respond. Questions unable to be answered at the meeting will be taken on notice with a response provided in the published minutes of the meeting.
