The Town’s Sustainability and Environment unit develops, manages and implements plans to reduce and effectively manage waste, improve the natural environment and provide leadership in sustainable practices and climate action. We achieve this through active consultation, innovative approaches and evidence-based methods.

About the role

The Town is recruiting for an Urban Forest Supervisor, to play a key role in tree management operations and achieving strategic priorities of the Council adopted Tree Canopy Action Plan. 

This position will work on strategic, operational and administration duties, including management of the tree pruning contract and planning and implementation of the tree planting and tree maintenance programs.

As part of the Sustainability & Environment team (Infrastructure and Sustainability Directorate), the Supervisor will be involved in formation of a new operational Urban Forest team, and also work closely with other directorates to deliver outcomes for a proactive, environmentally focused Council and community. 

About you

The successful candidate will have

  • Proven experience in the arboriculture field with the ability to apply industry technical knowledge in an operational context.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management and daily budget
    expenditure control.
  • The ability to multi task, prioritise and manage own time between, strategic,
    operational and administrative activities associated with Urban Forest
    management requirements
  • Possession of, or progress towards Tertiary qualifications in Horticulture or
    Arboriculture (Diploma AQF Level 5). Other qualifications relevant to the
    requirements of the position i.e. Cert III in Arboriculture may be considered.

Salary and Benefits

This Permanent full-time role attracts a salary of $85,696.98 - $91,464.60 plus superannuation.

The Town also offers up to 5% additional superannuation (conditions apply), free parking, ongoing training and professional development, and up to two additional leave days per calendar year.

Working Hours

The position is full-time, 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Flexibility options such as condensed hours (9-day fortnight or 19-day month), hybrid work and variable start/finish times are options and may be negotiated for this role.
