Arts and Culture
In July 2020, Council resolved to adopt a new Strategic Community Plan, which defines the Town’s vision, aspirations and priorities for the next 10 years. It is the key guiding document that informs all other plans, strategies and policies and the Town’s actions and decisions.
One of the seven priority areas is "Building community identity by celebrating culture and heritage", with one of the resultant strategic directions being to engage the community in arts and culture.

Arts, Culture and Events Strategy
In March 2023, Council resolved to adopt the Arts, Culture and Events (ACE) Strategy which is a four-year strategic document which provides a framework for the delivery of arts, culture and events within the district; building on the findings and strategies outlined in the Town’s former Arts and Cultural Plan 2019-2023.

In 2022 the Bassendean Arts Community invited locals to share images from around Bassendean. The activity ran in conjunction with the Power to the People project and encouraged the community to take a creative view of the world around them.
