The Bassendean Town Centre Masterplan will create an overarching land use plan that sets the conditions needed to attract investment and enhance the vibrancy and liveability of the town centre precinct for the next 20 years.

The masterplan is being progressed in response to community input which is clear: we want a more vibrant, inviting and connected town centre that is easy to access, has a diversity of local goods and services, is an attractive place to live, shop, relax and spend time. Above all our community wants a town centre that is sustainable and supports and serves people from all walks of life into the future.

The masterplan will align with the work we are doing on our Local Planning Scheme and Strategy, whilst also supporting our recovery from the impacts of COVID-19. This integrated approach is focussed on making sure we get the best possible outcome for our town centre and community.

Last year we invited residents, property owners and local stakeholders to a focus group regarding the proposal to develop a masterplan for the future revitalisation of the centre.

The findings from the engagement showed that people want a connected, walkable and vibrant town centre where the cultural diversity of the area is celebrated. Along with input from different stakeholders, the results of the focus groups have informed the production of some draft masterplan concepts that provide options for how we might revitalise the Bassendean town centre.

The masterplan concepts provide overarching land use options and will inform the conditions needed to attract investment in enhancing the vibrancy and liveability of the town centre precinct for the next 20 years. The process identifies and plans for key opportunities to regenerate the town centre in a way that is responsive to the needs and aspiration of the local community.
