Old Perth Road - Community Safety

Published: Wednesday, 23 January 2019 at 3:48:34 PM

Safety was the primary focus of recent discussions by members of WA Police and the Town of Bassendean along Old Perth Road.

Mayor, Renee McLennan and CEO, Peta Mabbs were joined by Acting Officer in Charge of Kiara Police Station, Detective Sergeant Adam Matson and Acting Sergeant Garred Letch as part of a ‘walk along’ Old Perth Road on Tuesday, 22 January 2019 to talk with the business community.

'Increased lighting and security cameras in the street' were the primary suggestions raised by the community.  A key message reinforced was the need to report any suspicious activities to Police on 131 444.

WA Police also provided useful advice to business owners on measures they could adopt to improve security within their premises to reduce the risk of a 'break-in'.
