Bassendean Briefings - No. 120

Local Planning Strategy progress The review of the Town’s 2015 Local Planning Strategy—which will shape the future development of the Town for at least the next 10 years —continues to advance with a number of informing studies nearing completion or in progress. These studies include: • THE BASSENDEAN BUILT FORM AND CHARACTER STUDY , which has documented the Town’s built form and streetscape characteristics and developed a series of draft design responses that seek to avoid inappropriate forms and scale of future building development, especially in areas highly valued by the community; • A LOCAL ECONOMIC OVERVIEW , which has produced an updated profile of the Town’s key demographic and economic characteristics, including an analysis of future commercial floorspace demand as well as a local real estate market profile; and • THE BASSENDEAN TRANSPORT STUDY , which will result in an integrated transport plan for the Town. These studies will be made available for community comment and feedback once they have been presented to Council. Additionally, a number of forums are also being planned to engage the community in helping to shape the future of the Town. Details of these forums will be posted on the Town’s website, including the 'Your Say Bassendean' platform, and the Town’s Facebook page, as well as local media, as soon as the dates are known.
