Local Government Elections

You can vote by post in the local government ordinary elections on 19 October 2019. Your postal pack from the Western Australian Electoral Commission should arrive in mid-October.

The Commission appoints a Returning Officer who oversees the elections which includes taking candidate nominations and supervising the count on election night.

Councillors are elected for four-year terms, with half of the Councillor terms concluding at each ordinary election.

The Town of Bassendean has seven Councillors. For this election, there are four vacancies. One vacancy is for a two-year term and three are for four years.
