Councillor Hilary MacWilliam
Hilary was elected to Council in October 2019.
"My family arrived in Bassendean from the UK in 1963. Here I grew up, attended local schools, swam in the river and eventually became a swimming teacher.
"Later I worked in youth sports development for the Royal Life Saving Society and lectured on Austswim courses. After graduating from UWA, I spent 29 years in WA Government Departments of Justice, Premier and Cabinet, Child Protection, Housing and Communities. I gained senior management experience in strategic planning, legislation, policy, projects and programs in community safety and comprehensive assistance to families and individuals in need.
"I believe in developing community capacity and skills to successfully implement projects that will build assets and resources in Bassendean. It is home to us all.
"I will support good governance, quality administration and services; community connection and wellbeing for all residents, and particularly seniors; growth of local business, training and employment opportunities; conscientious management and care of the environment; and, promotion of the arts."
