Council Elections

Local government ordinary elections are held every two years, on the third Saturday in October.  The next Town of Bassendean election is scheduled for 16 October 2021.

The Town's elections are conducted as postal elections by the Western Australian Electoral Commission.  The Commission appoints a Returning Officer who oversees the elections which includes taking candidate nominations and supervising the count on election night.

Councillors are elected for four-year terms, with half of the Councillor's terms concluding at each ordinary election. Due to a recent Councillor resignation, there will be 5 vacancies (4x 4 year term and 1x 2 year term).

The Town of Bassendean has seven Councillors.
